PERSONAL
On July 24, 2007, Liezel Huber -- born in South Africa -- completed her naturalization interview to become a U.S. citizen and was officially made one 24 hours later. In the whirlwind that followed, Huber and her doubles partner Cara Black (from Zimbabwe) worked their way into becoming the world's top doubles team. Now, after having competed in April Fed Cup matches for the U.S. and having maintained her top doubles status, Huber is an Olympian once again -- she competed for South Africa in 2000. (Black is also an Olympian and will compete for Zimbabwe in singles). Huber is 1-0 as an American competing for the U.S. In the Fed Cup semifinal in April, she gave the United States one of its two wins in a 3-2 loss to Russia. When playing in the Fed Cup, Huber has a 10-2 doubles record.
