The U.S. clinches the Fed Cup by BNP Paribas quarterfinal 3-0

Melanie Oudin (USA) defeated Julie Coin (FRA) 7-6(3), 6-4 to advance the U.S. to the semifinal.

*Julie Coin (FRA) replaced Alize Cornet (FRA) for the 3rd singles match.

Although the U.S. has clinched the tie, the remaining matches will be played with Christina McHale (USA) facing Pauline Parmentier (FRA) for the 4th singles match, followed by the doubles match between Liezel Huber/ Mattek-Sands (USA) and Stephanie Cohen-Aloro/ Julie Coin (FRA).

*Christina McHale (USA) replaced Bethanie Mattek-Sands.

The U.S. Fed Cup team will either travel to Serbia or host Russia for the World Group semifinal. The U.S. Fed Cup team last faced Russia in the 2008 World Group semifinal in Moscow where they lost 3-2 .The U.S. last faced Serbia (then Yugoslavia) in the 1983 World Group quarterfinal in Zurich, Switzerland where they won 2-1.

Serbia currently leads Russia 2-1.
